Questions
Questions and answers
What it costs, what you get, and what happens to your photo. If your question is not here, write to support@criscros.co.
Price and payment
What does it cost?
$5 for each photo, paid once. From that photo you can make as many patterns as you like, at any size and with any number of colors. There is no subscription and no charge for an account.
How do I pay?
By card, through Stripe. The payment page is Stripe's own, and criscros never sees or stores your card number.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Write to support@criscros.co within 14 days of paying, from the email address of your account, and the payment is refunded.
Photos and patterns
What kind of photo can I upload?
A JPG, PNG or GIF of up to 10 MB. The photo guide explains how a photo becomes a pattern.
How big can a pattern be?
Up to 400 stitches on the longer side. The size chart shows what that comes to in inches and centimetres on each fabric.
Which threads are the patterns for?
DMC stranded cotton. Every stitch is matched to one of the 490 DMC colors that are still sold, and the thread list gives the DMC number, the name and the number of stitches of each.
Can I erase the background?
Yes. When you make a pattern, open Advanced options. In the Erase step, tap the background in the picture and it is erased. The eraser brush takes more, and Bring back puts squares back. Erased squares are not stitched, so they need no thread.
Can I print the pattern or save it as a PDF?
Yes. Open the pattern and choose Print. The squares can show colors, symbols or both, on Letter or A4 paper. To keep a copy on your computer, choose Save as PDF in the print window.
A pattern has said "processing" for a long time. What do I do?
Making a pattern normally takes less than a minute. If one is still processing after a few minutes, delete it and make it again. If that does not help, write to us.
Your account and your data
Do I need an account?
Yes: an email address and a password. The account is where your photos, your patterns and the threads you have ticked off are kept.
What happens to my photo?
It is stored privately, and only you can see it, signed in to your account. When you upload a photo, the information a camera or phone adds to it, such as where it was taken, is removed before the photo is stored. Your photos are used to make your patterns and for nothing else. The privacy page has the detail.
How do I delete a photo, or my account?
You can do both yourself, and both ask you to confirm twice. Neither can be undone.
To delete a photo, choose Delete photo beside it on your photos page. Its patterns are deleted with it, and the upload credit it used is not given back. If you uploaded the wrong photo by mistake, write to support@criscros.co before you delete it, and we will help.
To delete everything, open Account at the top of the page and choose Delete my account. You are asked for your password. Any upload credits you have not used are lost, so if you want a refund, ask for it first.
A single pattern you can delete from the list under its photo.
I have forgotten my password.
Use Reset your password. A link is sent to your email address and works for a short time.
